Pure Energy Centre wins Wales’s First 700 bar green hydrogen filling station

Pure Energy Centre Hydrgen Dispenser 700 bar fuelling station

United Kingdom –  Pure Energy Centre (PEC), the electrical, renewable and hydrogen energy storage company is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the contract for the supply of Wales’ first 700 bar hydrogen refueling station.

The award is to build a hydrogen station in Port Talbot, at the University of South Wales (USW) to refill vehicles that can travel distances of up to 350 miles.

Elizabeth Johnson MBE, Business Development Manager, PEC, commented: “The award of this contract marks an important step towards the roll out of 700 bar hydrogen fuelling stations in Wales. The station will be able to support hydrogen mobility in the UK and other hydrogen filling stations already on the ground.”

She added: “Our aim is to create an interconnected network of hydrogen stations across the UK, which will lead to a hydrogen highway, thus a wide deployment of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.”

The hydrogen refuelling station will be installed at the USW Hydrogen Centre at Baglan Energy Park. It will consist of a 900 bar hydrogen compressor, high pressure storage system and a 700 hydrogen fuel dispenser.

Hydrogen filling stations must now be rolled out across the United Kingdom to avoid the “chicken and egg” situation. What should come first, the station or the vehicle is what companies like the Pure Energy Centre are constantly being asked by member of the public. The Wales first hydrogen refuelling station will be a real, on the ground tangible step towards the roll out of hydrogen stations across the UK.

Elizabeth Johnson said: “It is clear that if hydrogen filling stations and hydrogen generated from renewable energy are to become a reality, there is a need for a much stronger government intervention in the UK and beyond. Single grant intervention does not provide enough certainty to businesses and investors. There is a need for medium and longer terms policies that send a clear signal that UK is serious about deploying hydrogen technologies for low carbon transport.”

Further editorial information About Pure Energy Centre:

Currently the PEC has hydrogen sales in Europe, Americas, Africa, and Asia. It has a portfolio of hydrogen filling stations at 350 bar and 700 bar pressure which includes electrolysers, gas storage, fuel cells, gas compressors, dispensers, coolers, and advanced remote monitoring systems.

The PEC also offers the oil and gas market its adaptive CNG, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen platform that can be used at the rig site. The platform consists of generators, compressors, storage systems, HSE, amongst many others.

Pure Energy Centre USP in hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen solutions is the production, compression and storage of these gases at the point of use. This reduces the need for importing the gases. It also reduces the need to obtain difficult transport authorisations.
